JIT headed by FIA Director begins probe into Imran Farooq murder case

The JIT was formed under POPA to to probe abetment and assistance in Imran Farooq murder case.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – A joint investigation team (JIT) headed by Inam Ghani, the Director of Federal Investigation Agency, will interrogate two suspects Mohsin Ali and Khalid Shamim in connection with Imran Farooq murder case today (Wednesday), Dunya News reported.

The JIT was formed a day after the two-member team of Scotland Yard arrived in Islamabad to investigate the case.

Prime suspect Moazzam Ali was also shifted from Karachi to Islamabad. He is accused of having arranged visas and tickets for the two key suspects – Mohsin Ali Syed and Mohammad Kashif Khan Kamran.

Kamran is still at large. 

Imran Farooq, 50, a founding member of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) party, was stabbed and beaten to death in Edgware, northwest London, as he returned home from work in September 2010.

Farooq claimed asylum in Britain in 1999. He was wanted in Pakistan over scores of charges including torture and murder related to the MQM`s activities, but always claimed the accusations were politically motivated.
