The CEC has assured to back Zardari in facing potential fallout of his statements

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) central executive committee on Wednesday endorsed former president Asif Ali Zardari’s statement regarding the army, Dunya News reported.

According to details, the meeting of PPP’s central executive committee took place here on Wednesday in which the situation after Zardari’s statement was evaluated.

The sources said that the CEC has assured to back Zardari in facing potential fallout of his statements.

Talking to the media after the session, Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar said that such statements were issued by PPP founder Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and slain former chairperson Benazir Bhutto as well.

He said PPP never retracted its statements before and will not do it this time. PPP CEC advised Zardari to stand firm if he wants to fight and that party will support him.

PPP also decided to contact other parties and take them info confidence about Zardari’s statement and the chairman and co-chairman have been given the authority to talk to the government in this regard.

Talking to the media after the meeting, PPP leader Senator Farhatullah Babar said that one particular part of Zardari’s speech has been made the point of argument in the media, adding that all institutions of state must function within their constitutional framework.

He said Zardari’s statements should be understood for what they are. Babar said he didn’t notice Prime Minister’s or anyone else’s statements.

PPP leader said that Rangers were called upon recommendation of the provincial government but, he asked, isn’t it beyond the scope of Rangers authority to raid Sindh Building Control Authority’s offices?
