He said the peace in both countries will prevail through the determination to fight terrorism

COLOMBO (Dunya News) – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Sunday said during his Sri Lanka visit that security cooperation between the two countries is of key significance, Dunya News reported.

Addressing Sri Lankan army officers trained in Quetta Military Academy, General Raheel said that Pakistan and Sri Lanka enjoy special bilateral ties and that security cooperation is of key importance.

He said the peace in both countries will prevail through the determination to fight terrorism.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Army Chief said in his statement that the states whose armed forces and institutions were weak fell as result of internal conflicts.

General Sharif said that the operation against terrorists is ongoing with the help of Pakistani people and that the basic infrastructure of the terrorists has been destroyed.

He said the purpose of Operation Zarb-e-Azb is to bring peace and stability in Pakistan, adding that Pakistan as a nation will take this operation to its logical end.

“Whatever price we have to pay for logical end of this war, we will”, he said.

ISPR said that General Sharif’s visit to Sri Lanka stabilized military ties between both countries and that the Army Chief met key Sri Lankan officials during his visit.
