POL price cut: Filling station owners create artificial shortage
Most of the petrol pumps in the city suspended their supply in wake of the notification of reduction in the petrol prices, while the consumers called for action against those responsible for the artificial shortage. In Quetta, mostly pumps have been closed on the pretext that they have no oil, while the people alleged that its a deliberate act on part of the filling station owners. The Iranian oil sellers are capitalizing on the situation as they up the petrol price by Rs 2 per litre. Same situation is being reported from Peshawar. It merits to mention that the government notified a two per cent reduction in prices of petroleum products with effect from July 1 on Wednesday, because of a decline in international oil prices. It reduced the number of slabs for domestic gas consumers from seven to four without any change in average sale rates of natural gas.
