LHC declares signal-free project illegal
According to the verdict, Lahore Development Authority (LDA) cannot work on any such big project.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday issued a detailed verdict of 101 pages against signal-free project from Qurtaba Chowk to Liberty Roundabout, Dunya News reported.
The verdict was declared by a three member full bench headed by Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah.
According to the verdict, Lahore Development Authority (LDA) cannot work on any such big project.
It maintains that it is illegal to make Environmental Department as a subsidiary of Punjab Government whereas the deployment of Director General (DG) Environment has been done apart from merit.
The verdict also stated that DG Environment has exceeded from his authority therefore; National Accountability Bureau (NAB) should initiate an investigation against him.
