Official result: Kanwar Naveed wins NA-246 by-poll
MQM�s Kanwar Naveed Jamil has won the NA-246 seat by securing 95,644 votes.
KARACHI (Dunya News) - Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) candidate, Kanwar Naveed Jamil has won the NA-246 by-polls held on Thursday, Dunya News reported.
According to official results announced on early Friday morning, MQM’s Kanwar Naveed secured 95,644 votes. Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf candidate Imran Ismail remained second with 24,821 votes while Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Rashid Naseem was third and secured 9,056 votes.
Although there were 11 candidates in the constituency yet the contest was mainly between the MQM, JI and PTI candidates. This seat had been vacated by defected MQM leader Nabeel Gabol.
Polling process was started at 8:00am in the morning on Thursday and continued till 5:00pm in the evening. There were 213 polling stations in the constituency where police and Rangers were deployed in heavy numbers.
