Karachi: MQM, PTI workers clash in Karimabad, PTI flag burnt
Stones were pelted at PTI office in Karimabad, posters torn, flags set on fire by MQM workers
KARACHI: (Dunya News) – Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) workers clashed in Karimabad area of Karachi on Thursday. As the initial unofficial results of NA-246 by-poll arrived, MQM workers took to roads in large number and raised slogans in their party’s favor. But situation got strained when MQM workers pelted stones at PTI office, tore PTI’s posters and set their flags on fire. They also raised slogans against PTI, reported Dunya News.
Workers present in the PTI office were trapped and the law-enforcement agencies seemed unable to control the situation. MQM leader Faisal Sabzwari arrived at the scene immediately after getting the information of the incident and tried to control the workers.
Condemning the incident, PTI candidate from NA-246 Imran Ismail said that when MQM has already won the election, why such incidents are taking place. “MQM workers’ behavior is extremely regretted”, he said. He told that he had contacted Governor Sindh Ishratul Ibad, Sindh Rangers and other law-enforcing agencies and informed them about them about the situation.
“We are most concerned about our workers’ security. Around 40 to 50 PTI workers are still present in the office and their security must be ensured.
