The bench has warned that Lakhvi's bail will be cancelled if his lawyers did not appear in court.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – While hearing a petition against alleged Mumbai attacks mastermind Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi’s bail, the Islamabad High Court on Monday directed the trial court to complete the case proceedings within two months.

A two-member bench of IHC comprising Justice Noorul Haq Qureshi and Justice Shaukat Siddiqui heard the petition.

The bench has directed the trial court to complete case proceedings within two months and submit a detailed report after recording the statement of prosecutors.

The court has warned that Lakhvi’s bail will be cancelled if defence lawyers tried to use delaying tactics.

Prosecutor FIA Chaudhry Azhar told court that statements of 52 witnesses have been recorded but none could confirm that the accused is guilty.

The case hearing has been adjourned for indefinite period of time.

Justice Muhammad Anwarul Haq of Lahore High Court had suspended the detention of Lakhvi (55) under Maintenance of Public Order after the government failed to present sensitive records against him in the court.

The judge ordered Lakhvi to submit two surety bonds worth Rs. 1 million each for his release.
