Plan underway to widen Attabad spillway

Experts have decided to widen the Attabad spillway as the water level of the said lake is continuously rising. The glacier around the lake are melting swiftly causing 5 inches rise in the lake. Two houses have been demolished ion Gulmid Town due to the rising water level, whereas 10 houses have been marked red. Chairman National Disaster Management Authority Lt Gen (r) Nadeem Ahmed told media that the stones on the spillway would be removed through blasts. He added that the outflow of the water would be 40,000 cusecs after the widening.
