Army Chief visits frontline trenches in Khyber Agency

As many as 263 terrorists have been killed in the operation thus far, COAS was briefed

TIRAH VALLEY (Dunya News) – Army Chief General Raheel Sharif on Wednesday visited Tirah Valley to inspect frontline trenches and progress in the ongoing operation and expressed determination to continue operation until peace is restored, reported Dunya News.

According to Director General (DG) Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Raheel Sharif was briefed on the progress and success achieved in the ongoing operation so far.

During the briefing, the Army Chief was informed of enemy losses, including 263 terrorists while also being informed of the 35 casualties suffered by the Army so far.

According to the briefing presented to General Sharif, terrorist hideouts have been cleared from the area while the control of Mastasal Pass has also been regained.

The Army Chief was informed of the ongoing operation near Pak-Afghan border.

He was also briefed on the large presence of foreign-made landmines found near the area, 392 of which had been rendered useless by Army’s Engineer Corps.

DG ISPR Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa said that terrorist hideouts have been encircled in Tirah Valley and Khyber Agency and the terrorists will not be allowed to escape under any circumstances.

Addressing the soldiers, Army Chief General Raheel Sharif paid tribute to sacrifices of the martyrs, saying that the nation pays respect to their sacrifices.

He said that the ongoing operation should be concluded at a fast pace and expressed determination to continue operation until peace is restored in the region.
