Time travel: Seven months of PTI's resignations

PTI announced to resign on 22nd of August, keeping KP govt intact, and withdrew after 226 days
ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) had announced its resignations on 22nd of August, 2014, when Vice Chairman PTI Shah Mehmood Qureshi told the media that the party had decided to resign from national assembly and all provincial assemblies other than Khyber Pakhtunkhawa (KP), where PTI was in government.
Few of the 34 PTI members in national assembly refused to resign from their seats. These MNAs included Gulzar Khan, Nasir Khattak, Siraj Khan and Musarrat Zeb. These members formed their own group on 24th of August.
When PTI and its ally Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) workers attacked Parliament House and other government buildings on 30th of August, the then Senior Vice President of PTI Javed Hashmi left the party as a protest against this decision.
Despite PTI’s announcement, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq refused to accept PTI’s resignations. He said that he could not accept the resignations unless all members of the PTI appeared separately before him his chamber and endorsed their resignations in person.
Although PTI members appeared in Speaker’s chamber together but couldn’t see the Speaker. PTI did not return to the assemblies for the next seven months but attended Senate Election in March.
However, now the party has announced to return to the parliament and will attend the joint session of the parliament regarding Yemen conflict, starting on Monday.
