ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News, Web Desk) – Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) government and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) have on Friday agreed upon the forming of a judicial commission for probing the rigging allegations regarding General Elections 2013.

Addressing a press conference along with PTI leaders Jehangir Tareen and Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said that there were problems but political leaders of both the parties overcame those issues to form the judicial commission. Ishaq Dar said that several meetings were held with the PTI leaders but media was not informed about them and finally both the parties agreed upon Terms of Reference for the judicial commission.

Ishaq Dar said that PTI leaders showed a lot of flexibility. He said that the country was facing many challenges including electoral reforms and economic progress.

Speaking on this occasion, Vice Chairman PTI Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that both sides showed flexibility to reach a conclusion. He said that right use of the vote was the base of democracy. He said that negotiations led to agreement and constitution of Pakistan helped us get to a mutually agreed draft. He said that the rigging was under discussion for the last two years approximately. "PML-N beliees 2013 elections to be the best ever whereas we believe them to be the worst ever. However, constitution guided us towards resolution of the dispute", he said.

Jehangir Tareen read out the points of the agreement. He said that the judicial commission will investigate whether the polls were rigged or not.

Ishaq Dar thanked the political committee (Jirga) of the opposition members consisting of senior opposition leaders including Sirajul Haq of Jamaat Islami (JI) and Senator Rehman Malik of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). He said that Jirga played a crucial role in allowing the parties to overcome their difference.
