Youhanabad tragedy: Heavy contingent of Rangers seals Chungi to Kahna route

Police have registered cases against at least 25 people for plundering during protests.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Rangers have once again grabbed the control of Ferozpur Road by sealing the road from Chungi Amar Sadhu to Kahna after the violent protest of Christian community in Lahore against churches blasts, Dunya News reported on Tuesday.

Director General (DG) Operations stated that the Ferozpur Road from Chungi Amar Sadhu to Kahna has been blocked in a wake of security issues whereas as many as 5000 Rangers personel have also been deployed.

It may be pertinent to mention here that Rangers were called on as protests went violent.

On the other hand, police have registered cases against at least 25 people for plundering during protests.

Angry Christian protesters continued protesting on Ferozpur Road on Monday and damaged several cars. Many bystanders were also beaten up by the mob whereas media cars were also stonned during the protests.

Police seemed unable to control the protesters. As situation got out of control, police baton-charged the protesters and used tear-gas shelling.
