PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari will stay in Islamabad until the elections

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on Friday has started lobbying for the Senate Chairman and Deputy Chairman elections. One of the alliances will get the Deputy Chairman seat.

According to the sources, Rehman Malik, Raja Pervez Ashraf and Khurshid Shah would contact the political parties. Raza Rabbani, Farhatullah Babar and Qamar Zaman Kaira would also lobby for the seats. PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari will stay in Islamabad until the elections.

PPP has decided to contact Awami National Party (ANP), Jamait Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) for both the seats, say sources. Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q) will also be contacted regarding the matter. PPP would also ask for votes from Balochistan National Party (BNP-Awami) and Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-Mengal), say sources. PPP is also trying to bag at least six independent candidates of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) who got affected by the presidential ordinance in the Senate Election 2015.
