PPP, MQM candidates get elected unopposed in Senate

PPP's Farooq H Naik and MQM's barrister Saif have been unofficially elected on technocrat seats

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) candidates on Saturday have been elected unopposed in Senate on at least two women seats and two seats of technocrats.

PPP’s Sassi Palejo and MQM’s Hina Nighat got elected on women seats in Senate without any opposition while PPP’s Farooq H Naik and MQM’s barrister Saif have been unofficially elected on technocrat seats.

MQM’s Ameenul Haq and Waseem Akhtar took their nomination papers back for general seats whereas Abdul Qadir Khanzada for technocrat seat. Similarly, Babar Ghouri and Gulfaraz Khattak took their nomination papers back for general seat while MQM’s Seema Zarin took papers back for woman seat.

While talking to the media outside the Pakistan Election Commission (ECP), Sindh Assembly member MQM’s Sardar Ahmed urged settlement of issues through talks. He said that the issue with PPP regarding the Senate election has been resolved.
