MLO sections stopped operations in Karachi after suspected torture on Jinnah Hospital MLO by police

KARACHI: (Dunya News) – Question marks on suspected police encounters in Karachi have started to be raised. Jinnah Hospital’s MLO Dr. Shahzad alleged that dressed plainly police officials picked him up from his residence last night, tortured him and deleted from his laptop the important data of postmortem reports of suspects killed in police encounters. He said that he was released after the data was deleted.

Protesting on the incident, MLO sections of all the hospitals throughout Karachi stopped operations.

Holding a press conference in Karachi Press Club, Dr. Shahzad said that some policemen, who were drunk, took him to some unknown place in a police mobile van. He said that he was unable to note the number of the van.

Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has formed a committee to investigate the incident. The committee will be headed by DIG West Captain (r) Naveed Tahir and will report to Home Minister within 24 hours.
