Chinese President Xi Jinping to visit Pakistan next month
This will be Chinese leader Xi Jinping's first presidential visit to Pakistan.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to visit Pakistan in February to discuss bilateral relations and inaugurate projects in the country being run with Chinese cooperation.
According to sources, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will come to Pakistan first to finalise security and schedule ahead of Xi s visit.
President Xi will hold talks over defense, energy and other fields with the top Pakistani officials.
Earlier, the Chinese President had been scheduled to visit Pakistan in mid-September last year but the visit was postponed due to opposition party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf s (PTI) protest in Islamabad.
Anti-government protestors held a sit-in outside the Parliament House, demanding Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif s resignation for his party s involement in alleged rigging in 2013 general election.
The government claimed that investment agreements worth $34 billion had been expected to be finalized during Mr. Xi’s stay in Pakistan.
