WASHINGTON (Dunya News)— The United States has announced that it will not target Mullah Omar and other Taliban leaders after January 2, unless they posed a direct threat to the US.

During a press conference in Washington, Pentagon spokesman Rear Admiral John Kirby stated that being a member of Taliban doesn’t mean that the United States is going to launch an operations against them.

However, he also drew a clear line between good and bad Taliban saying that those who continue to pose a threat to US will not be spared.

He said action might be taken against Taliban who attempt to target Afghanistan or USA.

Earlier on Friday President Barack Obama affirmed that he would fulfill his pledge to end the US-led war in Afghanistan by the end of 2014.

“And in less than two weeks, after more than 13 years, our combat mission in Afghanistan will be over,” he said.
