MQM will devise its new policy within next few days; war with PPP may intensify: Dunya sources

ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – After developing differences with and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has started to get closer to the ruling Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N). It is also expected that MQM will join the federal cabinet in the days to come. However, MQM is keeping its cards close to its chest so far. The war between MQM and PPP is also expected to intensify in the coming days, Dunya News has learnt from sources.

Some leaders of both the warring parties are trying to bridge the gap between the two. These leaders include Agha Siraj Durrani and Senator Rehman Malik from PPP and some former cabinet members from MQM.

Conflict between MQM and PPP started from the province and reached to federation and even the parliament where the MQM submitted application in National Assembly Secretariat to remove PPP’s Khurshid Shah from the post of Opposition Leader. However, the movement against the Opposition Leader slowed down because the MQM didn’t have enough numbers. Government’s refusal to be a part of any such plan and MQM’s signal to lessen the tensions also played role in slowing down the tempo of the move.

According to the sources, MQM will continue to pursue its agenda of forming new administrative units in Sindh and elsewhere in the country. Strategy to work on this mission simultaneously in national and provincial assemblies is being worked at. Sources claim that Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah rejected MQM’s demand of Mohajir province after consultation with the senior leadership of the party. MQM will devise its strategy within next two to three weeks.
