Maryam Nawaz appointment: LHC seeks reply from Federation

Court ordered the Federal Government and the respondents to submit response by November 11.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday has directed the federal government and other representatives of Youth Loan Scheme to submit their written reply till November 11 on the petition filed against Maryam Nawaz as a chairperson of Prime Minister Youth Loan Program.

Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah of LHC commenced the hearing of the case.

Zubair Niazi of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) presented his stance before court that Maryam Nawaz has been appointed as a chairperson Youth Loan Scheme but the terms and conditions for this appointment have not been met.

He added that this appointment was made on political grounds; therefore, it should be declared null and void.

Federal government’s lawyer requested the court for the extension for the submission of reply.

The court approved the plea and ordered the federal government and the respondents to submit their response by November 11.
Earlier, Justice Atharminallah heard a petition against appointment of Maryam Nawaz as chairperson of Prime Minister’s Youth Business Loan Scheme.

The petition was filed by a citizen Ashiq Bhatti.During case proceedings, plaintiff’s lawyer Yasir Chaudhry argued that this was a nepotistic appointment as the government granted the post without publishing an advertisement for the seat.

Meanwhile, the court issued notices to Maryam Nawaz, federation and other respondents in the case and directed them to submit reply within 15 days.
