'Political Jirga': Dialogue efforts to resolve political crisis continue

PAT leader Raheeq Abbasi said PAT wants a quick resolution of the political crisis.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The political Jirga under headship of Jamaat Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq met Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) leaders in a bid to find a solution to the ongoing political crisis, Dunya News reported.
The Jirga participants included Rehman Malik, Liaquat Baloch, Farid Paracha, Kalsoom Parveen, GG Jamal whereas Tariq Bashir Cheema, Khurram Nawaz Gundapur, Raheeq Abbasi, Hamid Raza and Nasir Abbas represented the PAT side.
Following the meeting, Sirajul Haq said while talking to the press that all stakeholders are rigid on their stance to an extent, adding that PTI and PAT have resumed negotiations on Jamaat’s request.
He said the government should grant Jamaat leaders the status of facilitator since they have been successful in getting the parties to talk.
Haq said that the priority of the involved parties should be to adopt middle way to get the country out of the crisis.
He said the Jirga will solve the problem when and wherever it occurs, adding that the series of dialogue between both parties will be resumed from today (Wednesday).
Jamaat chief claimed that the deadlock has ended through the efforts to resume the dialogue.
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Rehman Malik said that PAT has welcomed the negotiations, adding that the party is advancing as per its co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari’s stance ‘dialogue, dialogue and dialogue’.
He said the role of Sirajul Haq amid the whole crisis is praiseworthy.
Malik said he has requested to move back the tent facility away from parliament, adding that PAT has assured to consider the request.
PAT leader Raheeq Abbasi, while addressing the media, said that the political Jirga wants an end to the deadlock in dialogue, adding that they have presented their demands to the Jirga. He said the demand of Prime Minister’s resignation has also been put forward to the Jirga along with the demand to investigate the allegedly rigged election.
Abbasi said PAT wants a quick resolution of the political crisis.
