'Controversial' Punjab Advocate General Mustafa Ramday resigns
Mustafa Ramday is the son of former Supreme Court Judge Khalil Ramday.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Acting Advocate General of Punjab Mustafa Ramday has resigned from his post on Thursday, citing personal reasons.
Mustafa Ramday, who is the son of former Supreme Court Judge Khalil Ramday, was appointed on July 13, 2013.
The lawyers fraternity had earlier expressed their reservations over the appointment, saying that it was not made on merit. They alleged that Ramday was not eligible for the post as he didn't meet the criteria of age limit.
On the other hand, a three-member bench of Lahore High Court, headed by Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, had also directed Punjab government to appoint permanent Advocate General within 15 days.
The order was passed on a petition filed by Advocate Rab Nawaz and other lawyers.
