The provincial information minister says Sindh IG himself fought against the terrorists.

KARACHI (Dunya News) - Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has strongly criticized federal government.

Reacting over statement of Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan regarding security at Karachi airport, he said the security of the airport area was responsibility of the federal government but Sindh Police fought on the frontline against the terrorists. Sharjeel Memon said that federal government’s soft corner for terrorists was a question mark.

Responding to a question regarding appointment of favourite officers in Sindh Police, Sharjeel Memon said that Sindh government’s favourite Inspector General (IG) fought against the terrorists at the airport. He said that Federal Information Minister was taking rest at the time of terrorist attack at Karachi airport whereas the Sindh IG was fighting against the terrorists in person along with his fellows.

Sharjeel Memon said the PM and the Interior Minister never condemned Taliban by mentioning terrorists names directly.
He said understanding between the federal government and Taliban was beyond the understanding.

Earlier, Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar on Thursday said that senior members in Sindh government are giving baseless and ridiculous statements against the federal govenrment, Dunya News reported.

Talking to media outside the Parliament House, Chaudhry Nisar said the Ministry of Interior had sent a letter in March this year, urging Sindh authorities to increase security at old terminal of Karachi’s terror-hit Jinnah International Airport. It was stated in the letter that airport’s old terminal was unsafe.

The provincial government was notified that terrorists on motorbikes had done recce and took photographs of the location.

Unfortunately, the Sindh government did not take any action over those alerts and failed to fulfill its responsibility, the minister stated.

Instead of feeling remorse over the incident, Sindh officials are leveling baseless allegations against the federal government, Chaudhry Nisar said. He said confusion is being spread among the masses by giving false statements.

The Interior Minister asked “Why no action was taken over the intelligence alerts?”

He said country is entering in a sensitive phase, adding that the federal and provincial governments must realize their responsibilities.

It is provincial chief minister’s responsibility to provide relief and rescue services to the masses. Federal government responsibility is to share intelligence details with the provinces, he said.

Chaudhry said truth will prevail once investigation of the airport incident is carried out by the Supreme Court or high court judges.
