Pakistan condemns US drone strikes in Miranshah

Drone strikes are a violation of Pakistan's sovereignty and territorial integrity, the FO said.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - The Government of Pakistan condemns the two incidents of US drone strikes that took place near Miranshah in North Waziristan on 11 and 12 June, the Foreign Office stated.

According to the Foreign Office, these strikes are a violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

"Additionally, these strikes have a negative impact on the Government’s efforts to bring peace and stability in Pakistan and the region." the ministry said. 

At least sixteen people were killed within last 24 hours in two CIA-operated drone strikes in Pakistan s restive tribal region, as the USA resumed its controversial drone programme after a five-month hiatus.

Ten suspected militants were killed in a drone strike early today at Danday Darpakhel area of North Waziristan which followed a similar attack in the nearby area last night that left six suspected militants dead.

The strikes came after deadly attack at Karachi airport on Sunday that left 37 people dead including 10 attackers.

A security official said that three missiles were fired at a compound in the early morning attack.
