Altaf Hussain not arrested: MQM

Altaf Hussain is still at his home in London, MQM leader said.
KARACHI (Web Desk) – Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Tuesday denied news regarding Altaf Hussain’s arrest in London, Dunya News reported.
MQM coordination committee held an emergency meeting at Nine-Zero in Karachi where Deputy Convener Nadeem Nusrat addressed the gathering via telephone from London.
“Altaf Hussain has not been arrested, he is still at his home in London,” Nadeem Nusrat said.
He said Scotland Yard officers are only conducting search at Altaf’s residence.
The MQM leader urged party workers to stay calm and control their emotions.
Earlier today, MQM’s Barrister Farogh Naseem refuted reports regarding party chief Altaf Hussain’s arrest.
Talking to Dunya News, Farogh Naseem said Scotland Yard officers were investigating Altaf Hussain at his residence.
“London police are recording Altaf Hussain’s statement at his residence” he said.
According to sources, MQM chief Altaf Hussain was arrested by Metropolitan Police at a residential address in northwest London.
On the other hand, Scotland Yard refused to confirm the name of the person arrested.
Scotland Yard, in a brief statement, said: "Officers are at present searching the address. Not prepared to discuss further at this stage."
