Interior Minister Rehman Malik has convened a meeting of Wafaq-ul-Madaris and Ulema from different schools of thought in the wake of Saturdays incident in which two persons were killed and many injured in an attack on a procession of Eid Milad-un Nabi in Faislabad. Following the incident, the minister called Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman and Maulana Hafeez Jilandhari by telephone. He expressed the determination to foil nefarious designs of anti-state elements out to sabotage law and order and sowing the seeds of hatred among different sects of Islam. The attack on a peaceful demonstration of Eid Milad-un-Nabi seems to be a big conspiracy against both Barelvis and Deobandis and I am sure that the Ulema would united thwart the attempt of terrorists, he said. He vowed to bring the culprits to task through taking immediate actions against them. He ordered police to take strict action with the help of intelligence agencies to avoid any similar attack in future. Rehman Malik also pledged to help affectees of the incident both financially and physically.
