RAWALPINDI/BAHAWALPUR (Dunya News) - Youm-e-Shuhada (Day of Martyrs) is being observed to pay homage to those soldiers who laid their lives for the cause of motherland.

In Bahawalpur Garrison Cantt, Corps Commander Lieutenant General Javed Iqbal laid a floral wreath and offered prayers for the martyrs.

An impressive ceremony will be held at Yadgar-e-Shuhada, General Headquarters Rawalpindi in the evening. It will be attended by families of Shuhada, serving and retired officers of the armed forces and a large number of people from all walks of life.

Army Chief General Raheel Sharif will also offer Fateha for the martyrs after laying floral wreath at the Shuhada Monument 

According to statistics, around 55,000 citizens were killed in different incidents of terrorism while 5,000 security personnel were martyred while over 15,000 were injured in the last few years.
