PM Nawaz inaugurates 404mw Uch Power Project-II

 ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – In another effort to bridge the power gap, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has inaugurated the 404mw Uch Power Project-II at Dera Murad Jamali today (Friday), Dunya News reported.

This project will help enhance capacity of the Uch Power Plant up to 990 megawatt.

The project, which has been constructed by a French company GDF-SUEZ, will produce cheaper and affordable electricity through natural gas.

It will not only contribute towards curtailing the present power shortages, but also save precious foreign exchange in oil imports.

On the occasion, Nawaz Sharif said provision of cheap electricity is need of the hour. He said multiple energy projects are underway in various parts of the country including Thar, Guddu, Neelum-Jhelum and Nandipur. He also directed the concerned authorities to install new transmission lines for Nasirabad and Sibbi.

PM Nawaz said Uch Power Project II help reduce the burden from country s import bill. He said future of the country is bright. He also thanked foreign companies investing in Pakistan s energy sector.

Earlier on Tuesday, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif inaugurated additional power units at the Guddu Thermal Power Plant, which will add another 747 megawatts (MW) of electricity to the national grid.
