PTI chief assures forward bloc to resolve their reservations
Says corruption will not be tolerated in KPK and the ministers will be sacked if they don’t perform.
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - The forward bloc of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa met Imran Khan on Friday.
Khan assured the disgruntled MPAs of addressing their reservations and said the ministers would be sacked if they didn’t perform.
Earlier, Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said that his party’s government is ready to hold local bodies elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on 30th April, alleging that Pakistan doesn’t have an independent election commission even though the media and judiciary are independent, Dunya News reported.
Khan said real democracy is not possible without free and fair elections.
Addressing media after meeting with Election Commissioner in Islamabad, he said that those who come into power by rigging elections can neither eliminate corruption, nor bring revolution.
“Those who’ve come under power through ‘number-two’ (illegitimate) elections are a big obstacle,” he said. “Those who rigged elections should be punished.”
Imran Khan reiterated his appeal to conduct voters verification in four constituencies, demanding corrupt presiding officers be sent to prison.
He said he will meet PTI forward block, and that a decision will be made after listening their point of views.
He said that no one can blackmail him for the sake of ministries, adding that instead of bowing to blackmailing, party will break assembly to hold reelections if necessary.
Khan said that the meeting with Election Commissioner was pleasant adding that a detailed conversation about biometric system took place. He said that KP province is ready to hold local bodies’ polls on 30 April.
Earlier, as many as fourteen ‘annoyed’ members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly submitted their resignations to deputy speaker ahead of their meeting with party chief Imran Khan.
It was reported that several PTI members formed a forward block in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly over the interference of high-ups in provincial matters. The forward block was likely to demand due share in the government during today’s meeting with PTI chief Imran Khan.
PTI emerged as second largest political party in terms of number of votes in general elections 2013; yet the party didn’t clean-sweep as opposed to its expectations. Imran Khan has termed a number of factors including alleged rigging for the outcome of general elections that took place on May 11 last year.
Khan has repeatedly highlighted in the past, the reports of ‘35 punctures’ allegedly inflicted by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Najam Sethi, reiterating his claim that Pakistan Muslim League (PMLN) influenced interim government aided the alleged rigging in general elections.
Upon Najam Sethi’s reappointment as PCB chairman, Imran Khan claimed Sethi is being rewarded for his ‘puncture service’.
