Conspiracy to destabilize economic hub underway: CJ
Over 2000 people perished only last year and law enforcement appears to be helpless, he said.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jilani has said that Karachi has been occupied by terrorist and mafia groups and that the war against terrorists will only be successful with the backing of people.
Addressing recently elected officials at oath taking ceremony at Karachi bar association, Chief Justice said that Karachi was a peaceful city in the past and now it is ruled by terrorists and mafias. He said that a conspiracy to destabilize the commercial hub is underway.
There are sectarian killings taking place every day, he said, adding that several precious lives have been taken in underworld and sectarian animosity.
CJ said that over 2000 people perished only last year and that law enforcing institutions appear to be helpless.
He said that judiciary alone cannot bring change and that the war against terrorists can only be won with people’s support.
