Impeachment only way to dethrone President: Aitzaz
Former chairman Supreme Court Bar Aitzaz Ahsan has said that impeachment is the only way to dislodge the President.The president enjoys immunity in criminal suits under Article 247 and 248 of the constitution but not in the civil suits, former chairman Supreme Court Bar Aitzaz Ahsan has said while talking to media outside the apex court today.Aitzaz said if any court termed the president ineligible, then only the joint session of parliament could decide on the case.He said that the president and parliamentarians enjoyed same immunity except some of the clauses in the constitution, and added that the president and Governor were immune under 1973 Constitution. Replying to a question, Aitzaz said Swiss cases would be decided as per the state law of Switzerland; however, if the Pakistani government requested the former the case could be reinitiated as according to international laws the leaders enjoyed indemnity. He observed that Musharraf could be tried for the November 3 arrest case.
