Thick fog disrupts rail, road and air traffic in Punjab

Dense fog engulfed parts of Punjab including Lahore on Sunday. Thick fog again disrupted rail, road and air traffic in the plains of Punjab while increasing the intensity of the cold weather. Lahore-Faisalabad Motorway and Lahore airport have been closed. Fog started engulfing Lahore and several other cities in the province on Tuesday night, reducing visibility to zero metre at several places during the early hours on Sunday.Authorities closed the motorway between Lahore and Faisalabad for all types of traffic and allowed driving at a slow pace during the day because of mist. PIAs incoming and outgoing flights to many countries have been delayed due to heavy fog. According to Railway officials, trains would be delayed for hours due to heavy fog. Driving within the city during the early hours was difficult because of poor visibility. A similar situation was reported from other cities.
