PTI moves LHC against LB polls law in Punjab

PTIs petitioner Ijaz Chaudhry says non party basis election is against the constitution.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has challenged the law of holding the Local Bodies election on non-party basis in Lahore High Court.

President PTI Punjab Ijaz Chaudhry argued in petition that Punjab Assembly has passed the law of holding LB polls on non-party basis, which is against the constitution because constitution does not hold any such concept.

Petitioner said, many of provisions of new law are unconstitutional which have been introduced just to made LB system ineffective.

In petition it has been pleaded to court that, such provisions in new LB law conflicting with constitution should be nullify and orders of conducting LB polls on party basis should be issued.
