12 killed in Karachi, rival groups clash in Layari

Twelve people were killed in Karachi in different incidents of violence in Karachi on Saturday.


Karachi: Violence continued in Karachi Saturday where twelve people were shot dead in different areas.


Fresh incidents of gunfire took place in Liaqatabad, Gulshan-e-Maymar and Shah Faisal Colony where three people were gunned down in targeted killings.


One person was shot dead in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, one in Orangi Town, one in Baladia and one near Katti Pahari areas.
According to SSP City, Tariq Dharejo a person was killed in Bihar Colony while two others were injured. There are also reports of cracker attacks and unrest in Agra Taj colony area of Lyari.


Former UC vice-nazim of Jamat-e-Islami (JI) Zafar Iqbal was killed in Liaquat unit 4. According to JI General Secretary Naseem Siddiqui, Iqbal was shot dead in his shop located in furniture market.


Two people were gunned down in Shah Faisal Colony and Afghan Basti areas of Malir and Gulshan-e-Maymar.
On the other hand, a eunuch was shot dead in Gulshan Sikandarabad area of Kemari. Unidentified men gunned down a man in Lee Market area.


A man was killed yesterday night in Johar Complex area of Gulistan-e-Juhar, while another man was shot dead in Qasba Colony area of Orangi Town, however, identities of both the deceased were unknown.


A man identified as Rana was killed in Baldia Town and Jallad Khan, 40, was gunned down near Kati Pahari.


Angry protesters stormed a police post and set it on fire after a troller driver was injured by Mochko Police firing.
One person was killed in Layari when armed groups clashed and resorted to firing.


Earlier on Friday two political workers, a private school principal and a suspected criminal were gunned down in separate acts of target killings in Karachi on Friday.


Moreover, bodies of five men were also found stuffed in gunny bags from different parts of the metropolis.


The local head of Pakistan People’s Party for UC-11, Orangi Town, Naseem Mohammad and a PPP worker, Arman Khurram Aftab, were standing in the street near Essa Hotel in Orangi Town when two men riding a motorcycle shot them and escaped, SHO Ghulam Nabi Afridi said.


A three-year old girl was also wounded in the incident.
