KARACHI (Dunya News) - Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal inaugurated Karachi’s first digitalized healthcare centre, marking a major step toward modernizing the country’s healthcare system.

The digitalized healthcare centre is part of the Federal Healthcare Digitalization Programme and has been established at the Federal Government Dispensary in Civil Aviation Colony. A formal inauguration ceremony was held on the occasion.

Addressing the ceremony, Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal said that the digitalized healthcare centre is an integral part of a modern healthcare system. He emphasized that healthcare is not only about treating patients but also about preventing people from falling ill in the first place.

He explained that preventive healthcare begins with proper birth spacing, access to clean drinking water, and timely vaccination. The minister said these measures play a vital role in improving public health and reducing disease burden.

Mustafa Kamal further stated that the dispensary will operate under the federal government and noted that the facility had remained unused for a long time despite its large space. He added that four other similar locations are also available under federal control and could be utilized for public welfare projects.

He announced that telemedicine services are being launched from this area as part of efforts to improve access to healthcare using digital technology.

The federal health minister also shared that a major healthcare project was signed in Islamabad a day earlier, under which cancer patients will be provided free medicines. He revealed that 745 cancer patients have already received treatment in Islamabad under the initiative.
