KARACHI (Dunya News) - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan has said that the local government system in Khyber Pakhunkhwa would be a role model for the country.

Speaking to media on Sunday, Khan said his party would issue a whitepaper on August 21 on election rigging, alleging that returning officers were involved in rigging during May 11 election.

Imran Khan demanded that army be deployed during the by-polls. Commenting over the situation in Egypt, he said that an oppression was committed against the democracy in that country.

Earlier, PTI chief said that restoration of peace was their topmost priority and his party will support the federal government for the purpose.

He said his party will extend unqualified backing to the government for its policy against terrorism.

The responsibility of law and order in Karachi is rested with police, not the Rangers; however, it is vital that police be depoliticized and system be set in order, the PTI chief asserted adding, “restoration of peace is our topmost priority and we will support the federal government for the purpose.”

To a question, the PTI chief said he intended to hold a public gathering in Karachi; but, the agencies warned him about the potential attack, adding accordingly, lives of the thousands of people cannot be endangered.

The party has readied the proposals for counter-terrorism policy, which will be presented as and when the government wishes, he added.
