Islamabad standoff: CJP takes suo moto notice
A three member bench will hear the case on August 19.
ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhamamd Chaudhry has taken suo moto notice of Islamabad incident, which took place on Thursday.
Earlier, while presiding over a two-member bench of Supreme Court (SC) during the course of hearing of suo motu notice on missing persons and recent violence related incidents in Balochistan, the CJP remarked that a person had taken Islamabad hostage for several hours and the shameful incident was seen by the entire world.
Sikander accompanied by his wife and children brought the federal capital to a standstill on Thursday as he brandished two sub-machine guns and fired shots into the air.
The five hour standoff came to an end after PPP leader Zamurud Khan intervened and tried to tackle Sikander who was then shot along with his wife by security forces.
