Jamia Farooqia firing: Police get physical remand of 8 suspects

QUETTA (Dunya News) – A local magistrate gave a 2-day physical remand of eight suspects involved in the firing tragedy outside Jamia Farooqia on the first day of Eid.

The police presented the suspects in the court of local magistrate on Sunday. After hearing the case, the magistrate granted a physical remand of all suspects for two days.
Police said armed persons taking positions outside the Jamia Farooqia mosque opened indiscriminate fire targeting former provincial minister Ali Madad Jattak and his guards when they were leaving the mosque after offering Eid prayers resulting in the death of 10 faithful including the former minister’s guards and wounded over thirty.
The former minister was unhurt in the firing incident, while the accused escaped from the, police said.
The deceased and injured were shifted to Civil and Combined Military Hospital, where some of the injured are said to be in critical condition.
Following the incident, police and Frontier Corp have taken into custody eight suspects during a joint operation, while a huge arm cache of weapons and one vehicle have also been seized. Concerned departments are taking further actions in this regard.
