CCI meeting underway with PM Nawaz in chair

The provincial chief ministers and other members of the council will attend the meeting.


ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The meeting of Council of Common Interests is underway in Islamabad with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in chair.

 

Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif‚ Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhawa Pervez Khattak‚ Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah and Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik and other members of the council are attending the meeting.

 

A committee comprising chief secretaries of the four provinces will present its report on energy policy before the council of common interests.

 

The energy policy envisages end of power outages during the next three to four years and production of cheap electricity by using coal and hydel resources. The strategy foresees bringing down the power tariff to single digit in three years and improving the efficiency of power transmission system.

 

The energy policy has also recommended to gradually abolish all subsides on electricity while consumers using up to 200 units are to be covered by the subsidy.
