Presidential poll: Deadline to submit nomination papers ends
The deadline for candidates to submit nomination papers for presidential poll has expired.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Filing of nomination papers for the presidential election has been completed and candidates of three major parties and independents have submitted their papers.
PML (N) has nominated Mamnoon Hussain as its candidate for the presidency while Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and awami national party (ANP) has nominated joint candidate Mian Raza Rabbani. Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf has fielded Wajhiuddin Ahmad as its candidate.
Mamnoon Hussain and Mian Raza Rabbani submitted their nomination papers in person in Islamabad High Court while Arif Alvi filed nomination papers of Wajhiuddin Ahmad in Sindh High Court. Senior leaders of the political parties accompanied the candidates while filing their nomination papers.
A number of independent candidates have also submitted nomination papers for the top office in Islamabad and other places.
