The US Central Command Commander General David Petraeus called on Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani at Prime Minister House Islamabad on Monday and briefed him about the details of new Afghan Policy announced by the President Obama and took the government of Pakistan into confidence. PM Gilani maintained that Pakistan will continue working with US and international community to resolve security problems in the region.Talking to General David Petraeus in Islamabad, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani reiterated Pakistans resolve to have long term strategic partnership with United States. Gilani welcomed US President Obamas affirmation of Pak-US partnership based on mutual interest and respect. He said both the countries share common objectives of peace in Afghanistan. Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani was also present during the meeting. Later, Army Chief Kayani held a one-to-one meeting with PM Gilani and discussed with him issues of national security. Earlier, General Petraeus called on General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani at General Headquarters, Rawalpindi.The visiting General remained with the COAS for some time and discussed matters of professional interest besides new US policy for Afghanistan.
