President lays foundation of Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway
President Asif Ali Zardari laid the foundation stone of Karachi-Hyderabad M-9 Motorway in Hyderabad.
KARACHI (Online): President Asif Ali Zardari laid the foundation stone of Karachi-Hyderabad M-9 Motorway in Hyderabad on Saturday.
The project‚ which includes construction of 6-lane motorway with 20 bridges‚ will be completed in 2 years at a cost of 13 billion rupees.
Besides benefitting transport and industry sectors‚ the project will also provide job opportunities to 4 thousand jobless people.
The president also inaugurated 48 kilometer long Hyderabad-Badin Road‚ which has been completed at a cost of 184 million rupees.
President Zardari also inaugurated Behan Benazir Basti housing scheme for the homeless people in Hyderabad.
Under the scheme‚ 65 thousand housing units will be constructed for poor people in 23 districts of Sindh.
The project will be completed at a cost of 1.6 billion rupees.
Addressing a function here after performing ground-breaking of M-9 Motor-way and inaugurating Hyderabad Badin-Mirwah Sanjar Chang Road, the President said highways and motor-ways play a pivotal role for national integration, economic stability and promoting social bonds. He said the government had undertaken a number of mega projects all over the country to improve road infrastructure.
The President said both these projects will usher in a new era of progress and prosperity in the region and generate new opportunities of employment.
Referring to Pakistan’s strategically location, the President said due to this location Pakistan can play a pivotal role in regional trade with China and Central Asian States that needs up-grading the communication network.
