Ch Pervaiz Elahi elected unopposed president of PML-Q Punjab
PML-Q's intra-party elections took place in Lahore today (Wednesday).
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has been elected as unopposed President of Pakistan Muslim League (Q) Punjab in the intra-party elections today.
Meanwhile, Chaudhry Zaheer Uddin has been elected unopposed as General Secretary of PML-Q Punjab.
While addressing the party workers‚ Chaudhry Pervez Elahi said he will continue his efforts for strengthening democracy in the country.
He said tradition of free and fair election process in the party is continued.
In 1993, Elahi was elected Deputy Opposition Leader in Punjab assembly and also acted as Leader of the Opposition. He was elected unopposed Speaker of Punjab Assembly in 1997.
Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi was also the chief minister of Punjab from 2002 to 2007.
