Wattoo slams PML-N demand to remove governors

The PPP Punjab president says the PML-N is not sincere with South Punjab and Bahawalpur.

 

LAHORE: Federal minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Mian and PPP Punjab President Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo said the decision by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz to stage a sit-in is an interference in the provincial autonomy.

 

Addressing a press conference here, he said the party that declared Dr. Tahirul Qadri’s sit-in unconstitutional, has itself brought a sit-in resolution, adding, “I hope the N-League will backtrack from its decision to stage a sit-in.”


The PML-N, he added, demands the sacking of governors, saying the demand is ridiculous as the governor is not an executive authority, it is chief minister, instead.”


The governor will not have an executive authority even in the caretaker set-up, he furthermore said.


The PPP Punjab president said the PML-N is sincere with neither South Punjab nor Bahawalpur and in contrast, the PPP is serious and sincere with the establishment of the province, adding it is very difficult for the people of Rajanpur to come to Lahore for resolution of their problems.


PPP Punjab President Manzoor Ahmad Watto also ruled out delay in general elections saying these will be held on time.


He said Pakistan Peoples Party will hold talks with all the political parties including Chief of Minhajul Quran Tahirul Qadri.


He clarified that the governors will have no role in the establishment of caretaker setup.
