Chairman FBR warns tax defaulters

FBR chief said that out of a population of 180 million, only 800,000 people were paying their taxes.
LAHORE: Warning tax evaders of stern action, Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Ali Arshad Hakeem said on Saturday that authorities could add their names to the exit control list (ECL) and their identity card would also be blocked.
Speaking at an inaugural ceremony in Custom House Lahore, Chairman FBR said 3.1 million tax evaders have been traced.
He said tax evaders were being given 75 days’ time to fulfill their responsibilities as citizens.
Mr Hakeem stressed that the country was in dire need of tax reforms and that the government should take immediate steps in this regard.
