Toxic cough syrup: Death toll in Gujranwala rises to 12
At least 12 people have died after drinking cough syrup suspected of being toxic.
According to details, former Naib Nazim Nandipur Town, Irfan Latif’s condition deteriorated after drinking toxic cough syrup. He was shifted to nearby hospital where he died.
More than 30 affectees of toxic cough syrup were admitted today in District Hospital, Gujranwala where Munir, Bilal, Irfan, Saeed, Arshad, Mubashar, Waseem, Yousuf, Shafeeq, Muhammad Zahid, Rafiq and Allah Wasaya died during treatment while 17 people were still under treatment. Four of the critically affected persons were referred to hospitals in Lahore.
