CEC dispels all doubts about elections
Fakhruddin G Ebrahim says Army Chief has assured of full assistance for holding peaceful polls.
ISLAMABAD: Chief Election Commissioner has said that COAS General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani has assured him that army will provide complete support to the Pakistan Election Commission for transparent elections.
Addressing a press conference in the federal capital, he said there was no reason to be pessimistic about the elections.
“All apprehensions about the elections are baseless, and elections will not be delayed,” he said.
He said according to his opinion there was no need for new delimitation of constituencies.
“Satisfactory law and order situation is a must for holding polls and Army Chief has pledged complete cooperation to ensure peace during elections.
Encouraging masses to participate in electoral process whole heartedly, Ebrahim said he is expecting 60 percent turnout in the upcoming polls.
“Election Commission is all set to conduct the polls and a meeting has been convened next week to discuss security arrangements during the elections,” he said.
