SC dissolves Shoaib Suddle commission

The court had said that the interim report of the Shoaib Suddle commission should be made public.


ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has ordered to dissolve the Shoaib Suddle commission on the appeal of business tycoon Malik Riaz, Dunya News reported on Friday.

 

A two-member bench of apex court comprising Justice Javad S Khawaja and Justice Khilgi Arif Hussain heard the review petition against the formation of Suddle commission. 

 

The bench directed the authorities to dissolve the commission after accepting the request of Malik Riaz. However, the bench said that the interim report of the commission should be made public.

 

During the course of proceedings, Zahid Bukhari, counsel for Malik Riaz, objected to the legality of the commission, terming the Shoaib Suddle commission as Arsalan Iftikhar commission.

 

On last Wednesday, the one-member Shoaib Suddle Commission probing submitted its interim report to the Supreme Court.

 

In its report, the commission accused former chief of Bahria Town Malik Riaz of his involvement in tax evasion of Rs 120 billion while Arsalan Iftikhar, the son of chief justice of Pakistan, was involved in tax evasion of Rs 50.13 million.
