SC says CM Balochistan is responsible for abductions and assassinations.

ISLAMABAD: In an interim decision in Balochistan Law and Order the Case Supreme Court of Pakistan has said Balochistan government has lost constitutional validity and Chief Minister Raisani was showing stubbornness by sticking to power.

CJP Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said Balochistan chief minister should accept the responsibility lawlessness in the province. “If somebody is continuing with office after losing constitutional authority, he would have to be responsible of his actions.

Only police cannot be held responsible for the anarchy in the province, said the chief justice.

Three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Ifitikhar Muhammad Chaudhry conducted the hearing of the case.

“Who should be held responsible for the killing of innocent people by the terrorists,” he said.

“If rulers are unable to save lives and property of the masses, why are they enjoying political and administrative powers”, the chief justice remarked.

He said that provincial government had completely failed in providing safety to the people, adding human life was more valuable than the government.

The CJP said doctors were on strike leaving patients at the mercy of fate but the government representatives were unmoved.

When the government’s counsel requested the court to order the protesting doctors to call off their strike the CJP said: “It is not our duty to issue such directions to the doctors; rather the government should provide shelter and safety to doctors.”
