NA body for issuing warrants to all MDs of oil, gas entities

NA body has cautioned to issue warrant to all MDs of state run entities in oil and gas sector.

A meeting of National Assembly Sub-Committee on Petroleum and Natural Resources was held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of lawmaker Jamshed Dasti to review the matter of fresh recruitment in Sui Northern Gas Pipe Line Limited (SNGPL), Pakistan State Oil (PSO), Oil and Gas Development Company and Pak Arab Refinery Company (PARCO).The committee expressed annoyance over the absence of Managing Directors of the state run oil and gas entities and warned that the committee would go to last extend to make sure their presence. The committee also sought explanation from the Secretary Petroleum about the absence of oil and gas companies head.The committee recommended that all daily wages employees of the OGDCL should be issued salaries immediately well before Eid otherwise responsible will be facing stern action. The committee also recommended to regularize all contractual, third party contract and daily wages employees of the company.While giving briefing to the committee, Deputy Managing Director OGDCL Basharat Mirza informed that the company has recruited a total of 590 employees on contract in OGDCL during the period from February 2008 to September 2012; out of which 353 have been regularized while the remaining cases are under process for regularization as per company policy.“OGDCL has a total strength 10297 out of which 246 employees are being worked on contractual bases whereas 2884 employees have been appointed on third party contract, ”Basharat Mirza said, adding that no fresh recruitment in the company be made without prior approval of the ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources.Chairman of the committee directed to the OGDCL that quota policy strictly be followed in the appointment process and all employees who were appointed on third party contract should be regularized.
